To make the most of your stay, be prepared.


The Mill is at the top of steep farm track, easily accessible by a four by four. If you don’t have a four by four, you can safely park at the bottom of the track and we can collect you and your belongings in the 4×4. By foot it’s a five minute walk.

Good stout footwear is required – walking boots, wellies are ideal.

Scotland often has four seasons in one day – make sure you pack waterproofs and plenty of layers. As the Germans would say – “best dress like an onion”

There will be snow in the winter, make sure you are prepared – flask, snacks, blanket and snow shovel should be handy in the car.  A headtorch should always be handy.

The Mill is well insulated so no matter how cold it is outside, you can always sit in the warm and admire the amazing Winter.

The nearest shop is 8 miles away as is the nearest petrol station.

To ensure a relaxing tranquil holiday – we haven’t installed a television , or telephone or WiFi, in the cottage. There is a radio, to keep a check on the weather forecast, and we will post a daily/weekly forecast on the noticeboard. Minimal mobile signal is available depending upon your network provider. In the event of an emergency a land-line is available in our property (located on the same site)
